The Flight Crew
Joolz and Scooby
Joolz and Scooby care about the environment and are committed to making a difference. This inspired them to create Luna-tic & Friends – to help save trees and protect our natural environment.
On a mission to save trees and help the environment
Joolz grew up in Woomera, a small town in the far north of South Australia. Life was simple back then. At home, they didn’t have a television or telephone, and Joolz spent her youth playing sports, climbing trees and exploring native bushland, or donga as the locals liked to call it.
Woomera was always under water restrictions, and the bath was often filled once a day for the whole family to use. You never wanted to be the last one to take a bath!
Living in Woomera taught Joolz about the importance of caring for the environment and respecting our natural habitat.
She loves sending greeting cards to family and friends but has serious concerns about the impact paper greeting cards have on the environment.
- Paper accounts for around 25% of landfill waste
- 10 litres of water is needed to produce one A4 piece of paper – that’s one paper card!
Joolz loves eCards as they are environmentally friendly and believes we should all try to leave the world in a better place than we found it.
In 2010, Joolz and Scooby started volunteering for Trees for Life, a not-for-profit organisation that helps revegetate and protect native bushland. Over the years, they have grown more than 5,000 trees for revegetation projects.
Joolz also loves animals – they bring so much joy to her life. She is passionate about rescuing or adopting animals to give them a second chance and a better life. She believes that one act of kindness can be ‘fur-ever’ life-changing.
Joolz is the creator of cool stuff for Luna-tic & Friends. You’ll normally find her behind the camera or clucking away on the keyboard.
Scooby is a dog lover at heart but is now an ‘accidental bird lover’ – thanks to Luna. She adores Scooby and believes he soars above the rest. Scooby is the Head of Cuddles and Scratches.
